Directions for Mr. Peel’s www.HistoryClassRoom.com T.A.G. Project:
In this project you will use Microsoft Word, Paint, and Windows Movie Maker.
You’ll make a 1-2 minute Travel Video of what there is to SEE and DO in your
favorite vacation state or country! You’ll also Digitalize & Archive old family photos!
- Put 20+ Family Vacation photos from your visit to a state or country on your thumb drive.
Pictures should show what there is to SEE and DO in that state or country.
Print Photos? Scan at school. No Photos? - Visit the Chamber of Commerce online.
- “Google” several MAPS of your state or country and save as JPEGs to your vacation file.
- STORYBOARD - Copy and Paste your photos into a word document (page setup, landscape view, four pictures to a page.) Add textboxes and autoshape callouts (word bubbles) to the pictures. (NO Last Names! We may put your Video on TeacherTube.)
- GROUP each picture with its textbox and/or callout. Run spell-check,
- Save your work.
- Resize window to right-hand side of the screen. Open Microsoft Paint in left side of the screen.
- Copy each picture into Microsoft Paint and save as a JPEG File to a new Vacation folder.
- Close Microsoft Word and Microsoft Paint.
- Song - Open your internet browser (projectplaylist.com is a good place to see what’s available, search for song (name of your state or country). Download from Napster, itunes, etc.
- Open Window Movie Maker. (Windows Movie Maker is really “buggy” close these other programs and SAVE PROJECT after almost every one of these next few steps.
- Import into Collections the song and drag it down to the Audio/Music line on the storyboard. SAVE PROJECT. (See Illustration Below)
- Import into Collections all of your New Vacation JPEG’s.
- Click on Show Storyboard and drag slide 1 down to the Video Line.
- SAVE YOUR WORK and drag slide 2 down to the Video Line. SAVE AGAIN & REPEAT until all slides are in the video line. (Save EACH time.)
- Click on Show Timeline and then click on Zoom Timeline 5 or 6 times.
- Play Timeline and Trim The Clip (expand) until it stays on the screen for 3 to 5 seconds..
- IMPORTANT SAVE PROJECT after you expand EACH slide.
- You can add transitions AFTER you have timed the slides with the music. (Click on Show Storyboard, View Video Transitions, and drag each one down to the little transitions box between each slide in the video line.
- Save Project and Save Movie File as a WMV file

WARNING: Most of the time spent on this T.A.G. Project will be spent using Microsoft Word.
However, this will not be true if you don’t SAVE after EACH step in Windows Movie Maker. Movie Maker will lose your work and you’ll become extremely frustrated.
